ORGANIC COOKING and NUTRITION:

Emerson's cooking and nutrition classes are designed to promote healthy lifestyle choices and community involvement.Through the medium of food and eating, Emerson kindergartners to fifth-graders apply grade level math, science, literacy and social studies skills as they are introduced to seasonal foods, organic agriculture, healthy eating, and environmental sustainability through recycling and composting.

Our cooking program spreads beautifully throughout the school: seeing our instructor, Ms. Carrie, travel through the halls with her carts of healthy foods, reinforces the nutritional message to all students, whether a particular class is scheduled for cooking or not. We also love to involve the entire school community in cafeteria tastings and other Emerson events.
