First Grade at Emerson

First grade is filled with reading and writing! We focus on wonderful literature and building comprehension while at the same time developing skills that are the basis for a lifetime of learning. In addition to a rich language arts program, we delve into the fascinating world around us through in depth, hands-on units on Animal Adaptations, States of Matter, Geology, Geography of the World and our local Bay Area, and a comparison of modern life to life in Ancient Egypt.

All the while we weave in art, music, field trips, and an understanding of our roles and responsibilities as members of our communities..Back to Top
