Mark your calendars! Join us on Friday, January 18 from 5-6pm in the Cafetorium for the Emerson Enrichment Winter Performances. Celebrate students from Music & Dance, Capoeira and Choir classes. See the pop-up gallery featuring work from the 2D Art class and Comic Book Arts. There will be light snacks. All are welcome.
We will start our rally with inspirational performances in the cafeteria from K, 3rd, and 4th grades, and head out for the March in the Elmwood neighborhood between 9:00 and 9:30. I hope you can come along to enjoy the show and to show your own spirit on our march. Extra supervision and participation is always appreciated!
All Emerson families are welcome to join us in the library for this month’s meeting. There will be snacks and kids are welcome to read or play quietly during the meeting.
Join for some holiday song and cheer performed by all grades on Thursday, December 13 from 6:00-7:00PM at Willard Middle School (2425 Stuart Street). Arrive early to find parking & seating. Food will be available for purchase at our Multicultural Bake Sale starting at 5:30pm.
All students need to be settled with their classes at the front before 6pm so that the program can begin promptly. ***4th & 5th graders should bring their instruments.***
We will hold Emerson’s 3rd annual Multicultural Bake Sale at the Winter Program on 12/13!
The theme is holiday treats (sweet OR savory) from different cultural backgrounds and will highlight a diversity of holiday celebratory foods. The bake sale will serve the triple purpose of 1) celebrating the wonderful diversity of our community 2) providing much needed food items to prevent total kid/parent meltdown during the performance 3) raise money for Emerson!

This Friday, 11/30 from 8:30 - 9:30, the Berkeley High Jazz band will be coming to perform a concert right here at Emerson under the direction of Sarah Cline. Feel free to join us, it is excellent music and good fun for all.

If your child was absent, Roots & Shoots Photography will automatically take their portrait on Make-up day. If you are unhappy with the portrait in your package, please have your child bring the package back to the photographer (keep the class photo) and they will take a new portrait, refill your package with that image and deliver packages back to the school in roughly three weeks.

This month we welcome special guest, Josh Reed, from the BUSD research, evaluation, and assessment office, who will give us a presentation on our SBA and local achievement data from spring of last year. This is a great meeting to attend as it gives you a vivid view of how our students are doing over time and where we might focus for the future.
