Fundraising

In partnership with Emerson families, teachers and staff, the Emerson PTA is committed to providing all Emerson students with the opportunities they need to thrive academically and emotionally. Unfortunately, insufficient public funding means that Emerson needs to bring in additional resources to fill the gap. Emerson's primary fundraisers are:

• The Heart of Emerson (direct giving) campaign

• Move-a-thon

• Football Parking

• Readathon

What the PTA funds

The Emerson PTA Budget supports over $260,000 of vital programs and activities at the school. The PTA will spend $900 per student during the 2022-23 school year. Every dollar counts, and every family who participates strengthens our school community by helping provide:

• Physical education and art classes from experienced credential teachers for every student at Emerson

• Weekly Art for every grade - the ONLY BUSD elementary school to provide this

• Weekly Physical Education for every grade - a credentialed P.E. teacher means full-time teachers have more time to teach

• Librarian and English language development (ELD) support

• Teacher professional development, mini-grants, supplies

• Racial equity programs - workshops for Room Parents, PTA Board; Equity Circle

• Office support - material distribution, staff support, attendance

• Covid-19 support: distance learning resources and hybrid learning preparation
