Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

This is a message of appreciation.  First, on behalf of the teachers and staff, thank you so much to all for making last week so special. Beginning with a sumptuous brunch on Monday that ended up lasting all day, notes and flowers coming in all week, a delicious luncheon on the back patio on Wednesday, followed by amazing massages on Thursday, every teacher felt appreciated! Thank you so much to Zoe Beach for coordinating the entire Teacher Appreciation week, thank you to everyone who sent in food, flowers and notes, and to anyone else who pitched in for set up, clean up, and class supervision. You did an awesome job and we appreciate you all so much.

May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month and at Emerson we celebrated by organizing fun cultural activities during lunch recesses. We had Asian Heritage Day on Tuesday with a library full of amazing activities and want to give a special shout out to Yoko Kawai and Rose Lynn Abesamis-Bell for planning and organizing the event! Thank you to volunteers: Vivi Andrijani, Katherine Cunningham, Betsy Hayes, Nguyet Chau, Jean Kawahara, Yuki Toyozumi, Pall and Meg Kunchai, Khan Lolly, Michael McParland, Zoe Williams, and Ms. Jeannie for leading such engaging ad exciting activities.  This Friday we will have Taiko Drummers on the yard after recess for all the students to see and hear. Thank you to Stephanie Tramel, Yoko Kawai, and Michael McParland for coordinating.

Finally, we highlighted Arab Heritage on the yard last Friday with food tasting, music, drumming, and a map activity. Thank you to Stephanie Meade for planning and coordination and to Moe for some mean drumming!

What a wonderful school we have!

Sincerely,
Ms. Hodge
