CAL FOOTBALL PARKING FUNDRAISER

VOLUNTEERS OFF TO A GREAT START!

For the past eight years, Steven and Jessica Wilson have led the Cal Football Parking fundraiser for Emerson. They’ve supervised parking in the Emerson lot for countless game weekends and have raised countless funds for our school. A big THANK YOU to the Wilsons and to those who have volunteered (or are planning to volunteer) for this important fundraiser.

Here’s a picture from this past Saturday’s game at home:

SEPTEMBER STUDENT SHOUT OUTS!

ART CORNER WITH MS. AMES

Warm and Cool Colors in the Art Room

At the beginning of the school year I like to have all of Emerson's artists focus on the Elements of Art— line, shape and color, especially. Second graders learned about the warm and cool colors. Even though real birds in nature would prefer to camouflage themselves, for art class we want to have contrast, helping our warm birds show up against a cool birdhouse or a cool bird show up against a warm house.

ART REQUEST: Books for our artists?

When I teach art to the kids at Emerson, we often use books to inspire our projects.  Sometimes I use books from my own collection or from our library.  Other times I show kids a video of the book on YouTube. There are a few books I would love to add to the Art Room collection if you are inclined to purchase one for us. I prefer to use all of my PTA funds to keep the art room well stocked in quality art materials rather than on books that I could find on YouTube (Thank you PTA!), but there are a handful of great books I'd really like to have in hard copy. One was even written by my El Cerrito neighbor a few doors up and I have a great lesson planned for it!

Thank you for considering! Here's the link.
